In Camagüey Vamos a andar peña promotes social inclusion

Camagüey, Cuba, August 1st.- The Vamos a andar peña is a space of the Julio Antonio Mella Provincial Library that aims to bring together people with sensory and motor disabilities to interact for recreation and rehabilitation purposes.

On the third Wednesday of each month, the activity promotes literature and the library’s usual services, in addition to the exchange through other artistic manifestations that enrich the heritage of the attendees and their social inclusion, said Julio César Pérez Sosa, head of the special area of the Camagüey cultural institution.

This segment is intended to serve the members of the Cuban Association of the Physically Limited-Motor (ACLIFIM), the National Association of the Deaf of Cuba (ANSOC) and the National Association of the Blind (ANCI), in addition to the recently created one aimed at people with intellectual disabilities.

In this sense, cultural activities are also developed for the workers of the Disabled Workshop, in communion with the Ignacio Agramonte Provincial Museum.

The organizational meetings of the representatives of the associations will make it possible to establish a work plan that will include carrying out actions in the popular councils to reach members who cannot travel long distances.

Next August 21 -at 9:30 in the morning- the second installment of the Let’s go and andar group will take place, after a first session in the month of July that had a large audience attendance.

Among the organizers’ projections is maintaining a close link with schools, families and mass organizations to promote a more enriching cultural and social experience.
