Governor Jorge Enrique Sutil Sarabia emphasized the relevance of the experts and the resolution of the State to assume responsibilities in the construction of adequate housing for the population
Camagüey, Cuba, June 26th.- Searching for solutions and facing the effects of the blockade was the central message of Tomás Vázquez Enrique, director of the National Local Production Group, when presenting the results of the sixteenth evaluation of the territorial production and sale of materials program of construction.
After the inspection in Camagüey, the ninth province visited in a tour that covered more than 50 municipalities, the implementation of alternatives for the manufacture of a wide range of products was highlighted, taking advantage of local resources and based on the successful practices of several entities, such as the Geominera.
Vázquez Enrique indicated that there are opportunities to increase the use of raw materials in different regions, such as the use of clay in the production of bricks and tiles for waterproofing roofs, which is especially relevant given the shortage of cement.
At the meeting, 25 measures were defined to improve the housing situation in challenging contexts, with special emphasis on the acquisition of steel. However, the strengths in university institutions and important scientific research were recognized.
The director emphasized the importance of continuous collaboration between entities and institutions to make investments in infrastructure in various areas and face the challenges associated with the housing stock, supervised by the local Governments of the People’s Power.
He assured that the province has enormous potential thanks to the diversity of existing industries, as well as the wealth of natural and recyclable raw materials, highlighting pigments and chrome waste used in urbanizations and roads.
Although the indicators are not promising, it highlighted significant advances in the area of Creole and rasillas tiles, with encouraging prospects for solutions for the roofs of buildings and hospitals, despite the lack of materials. This underlines the importance of innovation in the search for solutions.
For example, Nuevitas does not comply with 11 critical aspects of the process, while Guáimaro faces, among other problems, difficulties with labor, both being key places in the housing program.
Governor Jorge Enrique Sutil Sarabia emphasized the relevance of the experts and the resolution of the State to assume responsibilities in the construction of adequate housing for the population.
During the conclusions, the capacity of various groups to replace imports and promote the state plan through their own resources and subsidies was discussed, which requires the active participation of the regions, institutional competencies, operation of efficient furnaces, excellence and the cooperation of all to carry out an essential program for the country.
