The men and women of urban agriculture in the princely city strive to end the year with the collection of more than two thousand tons of vegetables

Camaguey, Cuba, June 15th.- Even in the midst of resource limitations and difficulties with electricity, the Camagüey Urban Farm Base Business Unit achieves good results in the current calendar.
Idael Bencosme Ramírez, director of the entity, said that until the end of May they sold nearly 900 tons of various merchandise, mainly fresh vegetables and condiments.
To reach that volume of food under current conditions, the different groups applied alternatives and even irrigated water manually due to the constant lack of electricity.
Legumes such as lettuce, chard, cucumber, carrot, tomato, beet, bean and spinach, among others, are some of the varieties that are most sold to the population at this stage.
Aware that what is produced does not satisfy demand, the men and women of urban agriculture in the princely city are making an effort to end the year with the collection of more than two thousand tons of vegetables.
