Camagüey, Cuba, June 8th.- With various activities in cultural and educational institutions, among which the municipal assets stood out, the celebration of the Cuban Librarian’s Day took place in this city.
Elsi Rodríguez Laffita, School Library methodologist of the Municipal Directorate of Education in Camagüey, highlighted the presence of libraries at all levels and educational centers in the territory where they contribute to the different teaching processes.
The professionals in the activity, he said, are systematically involved in methodological, training and improvement actions, which contributes, among other aspects, to the improvement in the search and management of information.
In the municipal asset of school libraries, it was learned that there is a projection of 20 students to study the specialty of Library Science, they were invited to work on the protection of bibliographic funds, to continue preparing and to promote the habit of reading in students from various promotional actions.
Yansel Hernández Arencibia, deputy general director of Education in the capital of Camagüey, highlighted the role that librarians play in all educational institutions and specified that their contribution is essential to strengthen a Resource Center in each popular council to from there be able to radiate to the communities, as foreseen by the third process of improving the educational system on the Island.
