Camagüey, Cuba, June 3th.- During the Provincial Plenary of Agriculture in Camagüey, emphasis was placed on the complex energy situation of the country and on establishing priorities for the productive processes of the agricultural sector in order to preserve its vitality.

The member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary in the province, Federico Hernández Hernández, highlighted the four current work areas: promoting unity and popular participation, improving political and ideological work, rectifying distortions in production and counteract ideological currents that move away from socialism.

Managers and farmers from all the municipalities of Camagüey discussed the role and relevance of the socialist state company in the current situation, highlighting that, despite the challenges and organizational problems, it is possible to achieve higher returns and strengthen the economy.

Governor Jorge Enrique Sutil Sarabia discussed the deficiencies in the procurement of agricultural products that impact the quality of life of citizens, highlighting the need to optimize the acquisition of productions and reduce state costs.

The debates revolved around price setting, the power of the Contracting Committees of each territory to establish rates, the challenges faced by forklift drivers with excessive sales and concerns about timely payment to farmers were addressed, as well as the obstacles in financial management, an integral part of the banking process of the sector.

According to the report presented, Camagüey has advanced 78% in land preparation, with more than a thousand hectares ready, the municipalities of Céspedes, Santa Cruz, Jimaguayú , Florida, Guáimaro and Nuevitas are below the provincial average and planting of the spring campaign reaches more than 90%, with approximately ten thousand 313 hectares already planted.
