22nd Congress of the CTC began in municipalities of Camagüey

Camagüey, Cuba, May 13th.- Designing work projections that allow better development of union assemblies and greater membership were some of the objectives of the first Municipal Conference 22 Congress of the Cuban Workers’ Central (CTC) of Camagüey developed in the municipality of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes.

The meeting brought together about 70 representatives of all the unions who evaluated, among other topics, the functioning of the labor organization in the territory, its role in the economic boost and the importance of the National Association of Innovators and Rationalizers.

For the representative of the education, science and sports union, Michel Calderón Marín, this is our Congress and therefore a transcendental moment to optimize our work.

For her part, Laritza Castro Alba, from the health union, highlighted how immigration policy has affected the number of members in the sector, where workers are also demotivated by the lack of resources and salaries.

Membership, as the report of the meeting pointed out, constituted the Achilles heel of the territory in this five-year period, since it decreased and of the six micro, small and medium-sized companies that Céspedes has, only one has its workers affiliated.

As Yamisleydis López Fernández, general secretary of the CTC in the province, specified, the scenario of action of the labor organization has changed and therefore we must act differently. We must respect the regulations and hold the assemblies, but with quality.

At the Conference, the new municipal executive was also elected, work projections were drawn up, and the injustice suffered by the people of Palestine was rejected.
