Camagüey, Cuba, May 12th.- The 151st Anniversary of the fall in combat of Major General Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz was remembered by young people, pioneers, students, combatants and workers, in the park of the same name, which immortalizes his figure, in this legendary region.

Fernando Crespo Baró, researcher at the Office of the Historian of the City of Camagüey (OHCC), recalled the imprint of the Homeric Cuban hero, who is an example for the new and current generations of Cubans, to continue in combat for the homeland.

«His resistance to the vicissitudes of the redeeming jungle is a symbol to continue the fight and maintain the independence of Cuba».

During the ceremony, students from the Camilo Cienfuegos military school and pioneers from Camagüey educational centers paid tribute to the hero and held an honor guard.

The pioneer Christofer Blanca Domínguez, 10 years old, from the Martha Abreu school said that he pays tribute to El Mayor because he was an honest man, who was very clear that feats could be achieved with shame.
