Marrero Cruz ratified the confidence in the workers of the sector and the commitment of the country’s highest leadership to promote the development of the sugar cane agroindustry in Cuba
Camagüey, Cuba, April 18th.- The member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, leads the last day of the third government visit to the province of Camagüey.
In the exchange with the group of the Agroindustrial Azucarera Company Batalla de las Guásimas, in the municipality of Vertientes, he highlighted that there is experience in decisive specialties that are not easy to replace, «so we need to continue preparing the workforce and achieve better care for men».
He also called for identifying alternatives that allow solving the objective problems that affect the sector -in the midst of the economic scenario facing the country- to save the sugar industry.
When exchanging with managers and workers of the union, he was interested in the average salary of the workers, the sale of food, the construction of homes for them and their families, and insisted on the need to generate more self-consumption, support sugar cane producers and look for niches, especially with tourism.
Marrero Cruz stressed that the contribution of this industry is decisive for the province to reach 20 thousand tons of sugar destined for the basic basket; However, to date the entity has only produced about 3,200 tons of sugar, a figure that represents 20 percent of the planned plan.
When checking the situation of the harvest in the province, the Head of Government recognized the effort being made in the face of limitations with the availability of fuel, but reiterated that there are reserves to promote the development of the sugar industry and its derivatives.
«We cannot remain focused on the objective problems we are facing», stated Marrero Cruz, and insisted on identifying alternative solutions and different formulas to fulfill the plans, diversify productions and generate new income.
He was also interested in the quality of raw materials, attention to man, alternatives to raise workers’ salaries and the batey resuscitation program. «There is experience in an important part of the workers in the sector that we must preserve», he expressed in response to the need to protect human resources.
Marrero Cruz ratified the confidence in the workers of the sector and the commitment of the country’s top management to promote the development of the sugar cane agroindustry in Cuba.
On his tour he was accompanied by the first secretary of the PCC in Camagüey, Federico Hernández Hernández, and the governor, Jorge Enrique Sutil Sarabia.
