The production of honey was affected by the intense drought at the beginning of the current calendar and then by the constant rains, however, the queen bee and propolis plan is being fulfilled
Camagüey, Cuba, October 18th.- Camagüey beekeepers make a great effort to increase their results in the months of October, November and December and somewhat compensate for the damage caused in the first semester by the weather conditions.
Omelio Barba Alonso, director of the Beekeeping Base Business Unit in Camagüey, said that traditionally in the last quarter in the territory more than 55 percent of the honey collected in the year is reached.
He specified, at the same time, that this is due to the flowering of the white and purple bellflower and the Indian vine, greatly favored by the rainfall that has benefited the territory since the month of June.
It should be noted that honey production was affected by the intense drought at the beginning of the current calendar and then by the constant rains, however, the queen bee and propolis plan is being fulfilled.
With the contribution of the 39 production bases of the province -spread throughout the different municipalities- Camagüey beekeepers hope to close December with the contribution of 705 tons of honey.
