Camagüey, Cuba, October 13th.- The Cuban Association of Agricultural and Forestry Technicians (ACTAF, Spanish Acronym) highlighted the role of rural women in promoting the tasks of the sector in the Camagüey territory, in a complex context in which creativity and resistance are imposed.

Given the proximity of October 15th, International Day of Rural Women, and World Food Day, on the 16th of this month, the Provincial Delegation of Agriculture hosted an act of recognition for these Camagüeyan women.

As part of the exchange, the Rural Women’s Creativity Award was awarded to Danuris Batista Pérez, forestry project specialist from the municipality of Jimaguayú, for the results with the peasant sector.

Other merits of the winner are the creation of circles of interest with children in primary education in the community of Bidot, and the work in the Green Consciousness program, whose objective is to educate about the importance of consuming vegetables and planting trees.

Odalis Marrero Vallina, president of ACTAF in Camagüey, commented on the motivation of Camagüey women in the tasks of production, family and rural areas, in order to enhance food and nutritional sovereignty.

The entertainment featured an exhibition of traditional dishes and crafts by creative women with the aim of showing and enhancing female performance in other spheres of life.
