Camagüey, Cuba, Sep 1st.- With almost four decades of founding, the Base Business Unit (UEB, Spanish Acronym) Fábrica de Refrescos 23 de Agosto, in the city of Camagüey, guarantees the presence of its main productive lines in gastronomy and destined for other state assignments.
Julio César Molina Castellanos, director of the aforementioned entity belonging to the Beverage and Soft Drink Company in the province, highlighted that they currently make, among other assortments, syrup and wine with the sweetener neotame, a raw material that replaces sugar, has high quality standards and enjoys acceptance by customers.
«Neotame sweetens between 9,000 and 13,000 times more than sugar and allows us to maintain a stable production rate, mainly in the summer, a stage in which demands increased, as well as using it in other alternative preparations such as cocktails.»
During the summer they worked in two shifts with the objective of meeting their commitments and producing 1,200 daily packages of soft drinks, together with the increase of 1,000 bags in July and August, and the syrup that is currently sold to children from 7 to 13 year-old.
To date, he added, they have exceeded the plans, and with the exception of the bag machine -of Italian origin-, they ensure the manufacturing process with Bulgarian technology that has been in operation for many years, whose operation is maintained thanks to innovators and rationalizers in the face of difficulties in acquiring spare parts.
“We carry out productive chains not only to acquire raw materials, but to find solutions based on the contribution of the workers in the maintenance area and the experience of the founders”, added Molina Castellanos.
One of the innovators is José Nuviola Pérez, an integral operator with 32 years dedicated to the industry, who assures that the challenge is to maintain production and seek alternatives to satisfy the demand of the population of Camagüey and other provinces.
«I started giving courses to young people on the equipment and start-up of the industry, at that time I worked at the Tínima de Camagüey Brewery Company, and after six years I joined the 23 de Agosto factory until today», commented.
Among his disciples is the young Dalila García Torres, a graduate of Food Technology, who referred to the revitalization of soft drink dispensing equipment in gastronomic units, and the variety of liquors after the rehabilitation of a blower that has been out of use for several months due to mechanical problems.
Hand in hand with entities such as Envases Flexibles and the Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz Military-Industrial Company, also known as the Mechanical Plant, and with the will of more than 80 workers, the 23 de Agosto Soft Drinks Factory, in Camagüey, does not stop and it applies ingenious variants to continue ensuring important liquid assortments in the commercial network of the province.
