Havana, Cuba, 12 Sep.- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said today that the United States must evaluate and change its approach to the causes that generate the deaths of hundreds of migrants on its southern border.

Through his Twitter account, the Foreign Minister said that, according to CNN, almost 750 migrants have perished in their attempt to enter the northern nation since 2021, the highest figure.

For this reason, he affirmed that «a real turnaround is required in the approach of the United States to the causes that generate this tragedy, promoting an international order, democratic and equitable».

According to the US Department of Homeland Security, from the beginning of the fiscal calendar, dated October 1, 2021, to the present, 748 deaths are reported, which is the highest figure compared to the 557 deaths reported during the previous 12 months on the southwest border.

It is estimated, however, that the guarismo could be even greater, as other state and local agencies can recover bodies without the participation of the Border Patrol, reported CNN.
