La Habana, 11 ago.- Cuba agradeció hoy al presidente colombiano, Gustavo Petro, la decisión de poner fin a la ilegítima calificación de considerarla como un Estado promotor del terrorismo, y reiteró el compromiso de contribuir al logro de la anhelada paz en esa nación sudamericana.
El canciller Álvaro Leyva, quien viajó a La Habana al frente de una delegación de su gobierno para participar en la reanudación de las conversaciones con el Ejército de Liberación Nacional (ELN), en aras de alcanzar la paz en Colombia, también fue portador de mensajes de solidaridad hacia el pueblo y autoridades cubanas por el incendio en la base de supertanqueros en Matanzas.
En el Salón de Protocolo de El Laguito, en esta capital, y en presencia de Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, ministro cubano de Relaciones Exteriores, y otras personalidades, Leyva dijo a la prensa que desde hace más de 40 años la mayor de las Antillas ha acogido en su territorio a delegaciones y compatriotas interesados en la paz, además de ser garante de los encuentros entre el gobierno y la guerrilla.

Aspiramos a reanudar los diálogos con el ELN a fin de alcanzar la paz, dijo, y agradeció la muestras de hospitalidad hacia las partes involucradas en las conversaciones, a las que asisten un enviado especial del secretario general de la Organización de Naciones Unidas para Colombia, un representante del Reino de Noruega (otro de los garantes) y otros de la Conferencia Episcopal de Colombia.
Rodríguez Parrilla destacó que esta visita se realiza a cuatro días de la toma de posesión de Petro como nuevo presidente, y reiteró la disposición de ayudar en todo lo posible por el desarrollo exitoso de las conversaciones, como expresión también de los fuertes lazos culturales e históricos entre ambos países.
Agradeció que Colombia rechazara considerar a Cuba como Estado promotor del terrorismo, en tanto señaló que son incalculables los costos y consecuencias que ha tenido para el pueblo cubano dicha calificación infundada, y que sirvió de pretexto para detener años atrás las pláticas.
Reiteró que esa nación puede contar con el compromiso y la voluntad de la mayor de las Antillas en cuanto a lograr la paz ansiada.
Tras cuatro año detenidas, hoy se reanudaron en La Habana las conversaciones, y mañana será dada a conocer una declaración final de este encuentro de gran expectativa para la región.
Este jueves en un tuit el canciller cubano informó haber recibido a la delegación presidida por su homólogo de Colombia, Álvaro Leyva, e integrada por Danilo Rueda, Alto Comisionado para la Paz, y el senador Iván Cepeda, presidente de la Comisión de Paz del Senado de ese país.
